About The Artist Community
|Why The Kidawa Artist Community?
First of all, the artist-community is here to give artists recognition, support, and just a great creative place to be at. Now of course it is not easy to promote all artists at once, but we promise to try harder than any other artist website out there.
The artist-community holds a variety of contests, games, and money making opportunities throughout the year or even month if so desired by the members.
The artist-community provides artists with three key areas where they may present themselves for free. These areas are: The Art Gallery, The Forums, and The Artist Directory.
At the main page of the gallery all recent uploads are automatically featured. This means all! Therefore, once you upload not only will your work be displayed in a public album but on this main page of the gallery as well. If your image qualifies as professional level art, then your image will be placed into one of the Qualified Art category albums. This also means that your image will be featured on the front page of The artist-community as well as various other pages throughout the site.
So already now your image is being viewed in more than three different areas of the website, absolutely free. It is on the front page, the main gallery page, as well as the specified category album page, and other pages that feature recent quality uploads and random uploads. This greatly increases the chances of your images being seen by clients and of course other art enthusiasts.
Qualified Art Categories VS. Uncategorized Art:
First of all, we organize all uploads in such a manner that give the website a more professional appearance. This means that artists play a strong role in the website's presentation. The neatly organized categories serve to motivate artists who strive to be better and provide categorized galleries for artists to browse through on those slow days when one is found to be without ideas or incentive to craft something new and brilliant. One browse through one of the Qualified Galleries and inspiration is likely to be manifested and acted upon.
Once a member uploads an image to the artist-community Gallery, administration will analyze the image and decide whether the image will remain in the Qualified Art Category or will be relocated to the Uncategorized Art area.
Analyzing the art piece:
First a decision has to be made whether the user placed the art piece in the correct category. If not, then it will be moved if it is to stay within the Qualified Art albums. Some categories may be similar, for example: a digitally edited photograph. This kind of upload may go to the Digital category or the Photography category. In this case it is entirely up to the user.
Hence the second step in the analysis is to judge the upload according to its home category. Example: the digitally altered photograph. If this photograph upload is uploaded to the Digital category, then its artistic quality will be scored according to the digital work that has been done to the image. Of course the photograph portion still remains a very important element in the artwork.
The upload is also judged in comparison to other uploads from that same artist. Some pieces may qualify and some may not even though they are quite similar.
As with professional critiquing, the analysis delves deeper. Here are some major points of observation: Eye movement throughout the piece, balance of free space, contrasts and colors, equilibrium of content and artist’s focus within the piece. Also analyzing the artwork’s style, theme, character, feel, originality, presentation, and meaning in an unbiased and open fashion. Difficulty and realism of the artwork is important, as well as creativity in the abstractness if it is an abstract piece.
This means that a photograph done with a $2,000 camera is not necessarily more qualified than a photograph taken by a cell phone camera.
Don’t forget, qualified or not your upload will be seen by many.
There are many factors to consider in this process and we ask that you respect our decisions. If you disagree and think that your upload deserves a better home in the gallery, then simply write to us. If we see that the explanation is true and justifiable then we will move your upload to a Qualified Art Category.
The artist-community is FOR artists BY artists
The artist-community Forums are a great place to showcase your finished and not finished pieces; pieces for sale and pieces that require guidance. When a new thread is started within the Forums with an uploaded image, that image thumbnail then shows up next to that thread topic. This makes our forums attractively colorful and also allows the artist to capture viewers into their threads with their uploaded art. A great feature to take advantage of in the Art For Sale area! Publicity gets a glimpse of your work before they even open your thread.
In the artist-community Forums we have the classified sections such as services being offered as well as artwork for sale, but the Forums are also a very useful place for artists to perfect their art. For example, if you are having difficulties with a digital painting you are working on, then just upload it into our Work in Progress area, and artists will come to your aid with tips and even their own work-overs to help YOU out. Plus we have many other fun and productive places in the Forums that suit well on those days where one feels artsy but is out of ideas and searching for new.
The artist-community Forums are very adaptive to our artists needs. Administration has created several forum areas that were suggested by members themselves.
Don't forget about CONTESTS, GAMES, and various MONEY and PRIZE making opportunities. The Forums are always buzzing with creativity, fun, and excitement.
One of the first things one should do as a member at The Artist Community is Edit their profile. At the My Account area which is the artist's Profile/ Portfolio, members can upload art into their personal galleries as well as receive and reply to comments from other members. Private mail is also an option among our members.
Profile editing is crucial in order to be more quickly searchable by a specific skill within the Artist Directory. Once profile information is edited, make sure to spice up the page with the best art pieces. One just never knows when a client or agent may glance at your profile with great new opportunity.
Thank you for your interest and enjoy your stay at The Artist Community
